Steffi Wieser studied classical and contemporary dance at the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Conservatory, the Conservatoire Nationale Supérieure de Danse in Lyon, and the Escola Superior de Danca in Lisbon. She collaborates extensively with choreographers and directors both nationally and internationally on experimental, long-term, and immersive performance and theater pieces. She also choreographs for opera, including the youth opera at the Theater an der Wien, directed by Sara Ostertag; „Der goldene Hahn“ at the Magdeburg Opera; „Fairy Queen“ at the St. Gallen Opera, directed by Anna Bernreitner (Austria); and „Wiener Blut“ at the Johann Strauss Festival in Vienna, directed by Nikolaus Habjan (Austria). She is a guest lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the fields of choreography and improvisation. Her collaborations as a performer include Fronte Vacuo/IT, Florentina Holzinger/AT, Doris Uhlich/AT, Saint Genet/US, Signa/DK, and the Watermill Residency in New York. She is currently appearing in Marina Abramović’s exhibition at the Albertina Modern in Vienna.
